Go out and find your secret spot in the woods or go to your local farm for berry picking. In Sweden, we are lucky enough to live close to a farm shop that has a great selection of greens and berries. This was our quick fix this summer, we made crumble and had berries for breakfast almost every morning.
Who doesn’t love homemade strawberry jam or a yummy berry crumble? Go berry picking with the whole family and even make it a tradition. You can pick all summer long, depending on what you want to make. Start out with strawberries and raspberries and end with blueberries. Just the thought that you picked all of this yourself makes that jam or crumble taste even better, and your kids will love you for it!
You will need this: • 3/4 dl sugar • 1 1/2 dl oatmeal • 1 dl flour • 125 g butter • 3–4 dl of your favourite berries, we love the mix of strawberries and raspberries or just plain blueberries.
This is how you do it: • Preheat the oven to 225 degrees • Rub the pie tin with a little bit of butter • Rinse the berries and put them in the pie dish • Sprinkle with just a little bit of sugar if you want it extra sweet • Mix all the crumble ingredients in a bowl and make it into a firm dough • Sprinkle it over the berries in the pie dish and bake it in the middle of the oven for about 20 minutes (until golden) • Serve with ice cream or vanilla sauce.
