Troubled 12 year old Anna is sent to the countryside for the summer. In a house by the water she meets Marnie. For everyone else in the village the old house is abandoned, but when Anna approaches it, it's as if time has stood still and the house is filled with life again. Anna and Marnie become best friends, but one day Marni suddenly disappears. Anna starts to question who Marnie really is.
